
The Mastic Beach Fire Department received an alarm for a signal 13 at 90 Maywood Drive at around 3:00 PM.
The first on scene was Chief Fuzie who found a resident of the home in the front of the house.
Chief Fuzie was in the process of checking around the building when heavy smoke started coming through the eves of the home.
The Chief noticed that the fire had started to spread and immediately radioed to County Control to bang out a signal 3 on a signal 13/35, working fire, and also requested a signal 24 to Mastic Fire Department.
Chief McGown and Chief Biondi had arrived on scene also unit 2 truck was on scene and Chief Fuzie and Chief McGown helped pulling 21/2 " hose off to battle the blaze which was coming out through the eves of the house.
Unit 3 arrived on scene and the men from that truck went to help the Chief's and other firemen already fighting the fire.
Chief Biondi started pulling 5" hose of the rear hose bed and drove unit 3 to the fire hydrant that was located at the corner. Chief Biondi hooked the 5" hose to the hydrant while Firefighter/Commissioner Charlie hooked up the other end to unit 2.
Once the 5" supply line was connected to the hydrant and truck additional water was supplied to unit 2.
Chief Biondi radioed to County Control for a signal 24 to Brookhaven Fire Dept. for a pumper to the scene and to Center Moriches for a pumper to stand-by ay Mastic Beach Headquarters.
Chief Biondi also requested County Control to dispatch Fire Marshall's to investigate the scene and for LIPA to disconnect the over head power lines to the house.
The female resident was interviewed by the Fire Marshall and was over heard telling them that she was doing laundry and that she saw flames at the rear of the dryer near the vent and that she grabbed the phone and called 911 and left the house after grabing some photos.
